Hi Simanteeni, Devendra and others, I am involved in water rights. Don't get much time to surf this circle but very much interested in the issue. On 7th September we are doing a fact finding on water and sanitation conditions in Mayur vihar 1. The issue is more about making civic agencies accountable and at the same time sensitizing people. One can write to me on water and Sanitation.Humanly, Kiran , Convener, righttowatercampaign@gmail.com
I appreciate the efforts made by jyoti. I am not witnessing any changes in Ashoka Nager. I mean New Ashoka Nagar, near NOIDA. Please prove me wrong ..Jyoti ji.
Awareness is there regarding cleanliness but nessary inertia to effect the cleanliness need to be removed. What steps be adopted to help remove such public inertia.....please suggest
Dear Seemantinee - I will need to look up for more details on Ashok Nagar and then be able to tell you whether we can take up the task of setting up such a system there. We have set up such House to House Garbage Collection systems in many slums in Delhi. We select a person from the local community, give him a rickshaw (of about Rs 9000), help him in getting the first 50-100 customers who pay 30-50 Rs a month to him & getting MCD to install a large dustbin. After that, people start joining in themselves. It makes a dramatic difference to the hygiene levels of the area.
