Cleaning Villages for Swachh Bharat - How To
Dear all:
Many of us reside in urban centres that have villages near by. These villages in many cases do not have the needed infrastructure and require cleanliness on a sustained basis.
With this post, we seek your inputs on how citizens of Urban/Semi Urban India can play a role in cleaning the villages of India.
If you have some experience in this activity, do share the challenges, how to make cleanliness sustainable and what all needs to be done.
Also, if there are certain items, that HAVE to be performed by the Panchayat/civic agencies what are those and what is it that the residents of the village, active citizens like yourself can do on an ongoing basis.
Swachh villages will be key to a Swachh India and we look forward to your inputs!

Well, SWACHH BHARAT can be achieved in 'NO Time' if our elected Representatives/Councilors discharge their duties & responsibilities - HONESTLY! If they are HONEST...the entire 'Conservancy Staff' in various 'Municipal Corporations/Committees' will start functioning HONESTLY....Nothing more is required, since, public is already aware and NEVER Litter a CLEAN Place...How will make these CORRUPT & INEFFICIENT/INCOMPETENT STAFF to WORK ???

CLOGGED DRAINs :: In villages the panchayats have taken up "storm water drain" project along the roads. This has become a convenient garbage-disposal-chute ( throwing area for those Lazy house-maids) instead of taking it to the dustbins provided across the road. The clogged drains defeat the purpose for which they are being constructed with PUBLIC MONEY.

Every The Panchayat - in their respective areas - should put up LARGE HOARDINGs with ROSTERs (days & hrs of work) of the concerned Employees, Workers, Cleaners along with their Photo under Swatch Bharat Initiative . It is noticed most of the time that an excuse of workers being "busy" in "some other area" is given as a reason for garbage not being collected. Even after paying panchayat's "charges" for garbage collection we have to many times go in search of the allocated garbage collector who obliges b'coz of our "incentive"/"mamul" / "bribe"/etc.

If the urban go to their near by village and make contact with the farmer of their food grain, vegetables, fruits etc which they consume daily for growing organic process with bio fertilizer ( cow dung, Cow urine etc). this may be a little expensive at starting but it will be later beneficial of both. and simultaneously the village will be more clean from pesticide residual . The urban also can share their domestic garbage like peel of vegetables etc, also they can share their knowledge collecting from Internet, etc in printing form with translated in local language about organic cultivation, govt scheme etc. This type contribution will make benefit of both and villagers should be motivated in value added crop, etc and the city dweller should be sure to get a toxic free food.
