Charges and procedure to get property details Lajpat Nagar
This is about a basement floor in Lajpat Nagar. It was bought by my uncle and mother, as power of attorney, many years ago. Now we suspect some foul transaction. I want to get complete details of present status of ownership, and all transactions done in regard to that property.
What is the right person to contact, and get the information in easiest way, in low cost?
Kind Regards,
Vibhu
I don't think there is any formal procedure. First, visit on any working day and avoid Saturday as there is usually much heavier crowed there on Saturday. Secondly, prepare two sets of application - one a general application for information pertaining to the property and second a RTI application for the same. First try regular application to be allowed the information orally. If that does not work, try RTI. Ensure that you carry some blank sheets for writing application right there, should the need arise. Keep in mind that in case of RTIL you need to wait to get the information / response from authority. Another important point is that you need to be able to give reason as to why you are asking for information. Since you stated that you don't have any papers, you are likely to run into trouble as you really don't have any valid reason as far as officer is concerned. Fa Going yourself personally is also helpful and if you can take along your uncle / mother then that will provide additional help as officers there will be more sympathetic to them. But if you don't have any paper showing any ownership, you will likely face resistance there. If all that does not work, contact some professional to get the work done.

For current status you should visit local SDM office. All transactions are registered at SDM office only. Second place to visit would be MCD office where you can ask for checking property tax records. Mutation of property happens at MCD office.
