Capping prices of medical devices at 30% trade margin

Very good move by govt announced today. I know circles have been asking for addressing fictitious mrp.

However, key question. Who will ensure that there is compliance.

Localcircles members must discuss how to drive compliance on this? more

Such mails keep on confirming again and again that something significant does get "lost in translation" between Rule and its Implementation..... more
Recently a quotation was taken from max hospital for a simple operation like hernia. The estimate given was for 1.5 lac. Break up operation, room doctor fees etc 86000 , mesh charges 60000, plus others 4000. Since mesh comes under consumables insurance agencies do not reimburse for consumables. Also insurance companies have capped the amount they reimburse for each type of operation so all the profits are earned by unethically increasing the cost of consumables . When you go on the net the price of a mesh us given from 500 to 5000. For senior citizens who depend on medical insurance to take care of medical expenses they are being zipped in every way. Insurance agencies have trippled the premium charged after 60 yrs. They have a big list of items which they will not reimburse, hospitals are aware of this and charge exorbitant rates for these articles. Is this the way govt has promised ease of living for its citizens, especially senior citizens . Folks don't forget that each and every human being is going to become a senior citizen sometime . When in power think of how you can make life comfortable for those who have spent their life struggling and contributing to the nation's growth. When you frame policies ensure a dignified life for them , dont forget you are actually taking care of your own future as well .as you also will become senior citizens one day. more
Through this column I would apopeal to all manufacturers of medicines and consumables fo lifelong treatment of certain diseases to refrain from the need for external vigilance , so that they get a fair return and, the patients get treatment at an affordable cost. more
Actually there should not be any discount on the MRP if the price mentioned is correct .It gives rise to unnecessary speculation that the shops are taking us for a ride.let them mention the correct price and not a jacked up one more
Fixation of the MRP should be examined by some designated authorities, based on cost benefit analysis. more
