Cancelling board exam for 5th & 8th standard students not right
After stating for several months that board exams will be conducted for students of 5th standard and 8th standard, Tamil Nadu government has become panicky and withdrew the proposal, due to protest by some so called activist groups and some politicians.
Obviously, Tamil Nadu government has no courage of conviction.
In today's scenario, the youth have to be mentally prepared for competitive conditions in the life ahead. Such mental make up can be well inculcated only in the formative age group.
Further, ithe board exam gives an opportunity to the parents and students to know where the students stand and take corrective steps. The teachers will also be exposed, if they would not be teaching the students adequately well. This board exam will also enable the educational institutions under government and private bodies to apply the corrective steps and idenify the inadequacies in the class rooms.
The argument that the young students will be mentally stressed due to such board exams is ridiculous. tthe government has clarified that no student willbe failed.
Sadly, it has become extremely difficult to implement any progressive steps in Tamil Nadu .

It is highly rational and sensible going in the path of much more developed countries who stand well ahead of us in the worldwide ranking in education.

only exams are the yardstick to measure the strength of students knowledge and capability . no exam no standard no merit = mess it is the duty of the students to invoke the govt. to conduct the exam for their own benefit. gopalakrishnan sr.citizen

Conducting Board exams is welcome since it gives an opportunity to the young students to self ascertaining. But a categorical assurance from the Education Department for not failing any student is must and pre-condition. - SP.RAJENDRAN -SOCIAL ACTIVIST

its very clear that politicians dont want knowledgeable people to come out of schools so that they wont be questioned and followed blindly. they want only herd of people (aattu mandai in tamil) and not people with sixth sense.
