Bottled Water MRP higher inside Airport Premises
Last week we bought a 500 ml water bottle with brand name Aava at Domestic Terminal T1 of Mumbai airport which had MRP Rs.60. Bottling company Sheelpe Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. Ahmedabad.
Last month at Dehradun airport we bought a 500ml water bottle with trade name Vedica which had MRP Rs.30. Bottling company Bisleri International Pvt Ltd., Rudrapur.
After the amendment of Packaging Commodities Act printing of different MRP for same quantity of water is not allowed effective 1-1-2018. However it seems that either the authorities are not taking action against these defaulters or they have found some loop hole in the law for profiteering.

This is a bad practice and even some judgement have gone in favour of the exploiting community. more

Flights became accessible to common man but not drinking water. At least basic things like water must be reasonably priced. Luxury items may be charged luxuriously to compensate loss in basic items. more

Its good that you are talking of inflated prices at the airport. One cup of tea costs Rs 99/-. In a country where flying has become accessible for the middle class, the prices of goods at the airport is still a preserve of the rich and mighty. The govt is not interested in these small improvements..... more

Many a times the Apex Court deliver its verdict overlooking the common mans' interests. The establishments referred to in the court's verdict are already fixing exorbitant prices for their menus leaving several hundred percent of margin on their cost. As such, how the observations of the court could be justified? These apart, when the price of a bottle of same quantity water could be priced at just half of the MRP of the bottle of Aava by another renowned manufacturer of the country to be sold at the airports itself, it is clearly a case of profiteering. more
