Black money case: SC raps Centre, asks it to reveal all names by tomorrow

In a big setback to the Narendra Modi government, the Supreme Court has asked it to hand over all names of black money holders by 10.30am on Wednesday.

“You don’t have to have a protective umbrella for the (foreign bank) account holders...Doesn’t matter even if confidentiality is being breached,” a bench headed by CJI HL Dattu said Tuesday, refusing to modify its earlier order to the government to reveal all names of foreign bank account holders.

“You please don’t bother...You don’t investigate. We will order the SIT to investigate...The Union of India need not do anything,” the bench said, adding it would take the responsibility of issuing further directions in the matter.

"We can't leave the issue of bringing back black money to government. It will never happen during our time," the apex court said in a stinging criticism of the government.

The new regime at the Centre can't ask modification of order when it was passed in an open court and accepted by the government, the court said. more

While BJP demanded action on Sheila Dixit by AAP in 49 days, does not it put BJP in poor light for not acting on any Big Fishes or Robert Vadra case not being taken up by Haryana BJP Government? Mr. Modi : you failed the nation. It is funny that both Congress and BJP thinks of common man when they are in opposition, when in power they both will only think of their capitalist masters. People who sponsored his massive LS Poll campaign and made him the most costly PM ever will never be put behind bars. Black money will only be a phrase for debate. more
RamNiwas Goel ji, Do you really trust this government will bring back black money from overseas? more
Delhi could not submit its position properly against corruption in 2013. Congress was punished for sure. Can we say, Delhi is still alive on this matter? Will we see Delhi rising again for a cause? While AAP talks about various issues, BJP is still contesting in the name of MODI, nothing else. Is this what Democracy has become? http://www.naisadak.org/dilli-kisase-ladegi/ more
Our fellow citizens have a good habit of forgetting things easily. Media will change the topic by flashing other breaking news. Black money case will be lost. We already have assumed nothing is going to happen. We have already assumed it is impossible. No one will keep asking Modi about black money. Case closed. more
