BJP bought land worth crores just before note ban

Just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his demonetisation policy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bought land worth crores of rupees. The party, in power at the Centre, bought several land parcels in Bihar up to the first week of November.

On November 8 Modi announced the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000.

a news portal accessed deeds of at least 10 such property transactions done by BJP functionaries in Bihar for the party. Some of them were even bought on the behalf of BJP president Amit Shah.

The BJP bought land in Katihar. Sanjeev Chaurasia, member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Digha, was among the senior party functionaries who bought the land parcels. According to him, such purchases were not limited to Bihar, but in other states as well.

"Sab jagah khareeda jaa raha tha... Bihar ke saath aur jagah bhi khareeda jaa raha hai... Hum log to sirf signatory authority hi hain paisa to party ki taraf se aaya tha... saari zameein khareedi hain... party karyalay ke liye aur anya kaamo ke liye... November 1st week tak zameein khareedi hain."

("Land was being bought everywhere... In other places too, along with Bihar... We are merely the signatory authority; the money came from the party... the plots were bought for building party offices and other purposes. They were bought up to the first week of November.")

When asked whether the properties were bought in cash or cheque, Chaurasia replied 'alag alag tareeke se paisa aata hai' (Money was sent in different formats).

Based on Chaurasia's admission that land was bought by party representatives throughout Bihar as well as the country, and the deed documents, it is clear that BJP went on a property buying spree in a planned and phased manner.

Land was acquired in cities and towns such as Madhubani, Katihar, Madhepura, Lakhisarai, Kishanganj and Arwal.

The size of the plots acquired ranged from 250 sq feet to about half an acre. Their values range between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 1.16 crore. The costliest land parcel was bought at Rs 1,100 per sq feet.

The BJP bought land in Saharsa in Bihar.
But most interesting are the persons themselves to whom the plots have been transferred.

'National President, Bhartiya Janta Party Through Sanjeev Chaurasia, Gen Sec Bihar'. One property in this name has been bought for Rs 60.13 lakh in Lakhisarai.
Sanjeev Chaurasia - The general secretary of BJP's Bihar unit. The address Chaurasia has given in the deed is 11 Ashoka Road - the national headquarters of BJP.
Lal Babu Prasad - The vice-chairman of BJP's Bihar unit. His address is - Village Arya Samaj Road Narkatiyaganj, PS - Narkatiyaganj, West Champaran.
Dilip Kumar Jaiswal - The treasurer of BJP's Bihar unit. One of the deeds mentions his address is as Purabpali Road, PS - district Kisanganj. And another deed mentions his address as 11 Ashoka Road.
In some cases the claimant is BJP itself. And the address given is 11 Ashoka Road.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United)'s on Twitter questioned the purchases and demanded a Supreme Court probe, alleging that the BJP even paid in advance for construction material before demonetisation kicked in.

One of the main reasons that Narendra Modi had given for his demonetisation policy was to curb black money. It is a known fact, and something that the party spokespersons have repeated several times since the policy was announced, that a sizeable part of the black money in India is parked in real estate.

The frequency with which these land parcels have been bought, in the run up to Narendra Modi's November 8 announcement, coupled with the admission by BJP's own state functionary, raises doubts about the party's claim of secrecy about the demonetisation policy.

And this is not the first time that such issues of propriety have been raised against the party. Three days after Modi announced his policy, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) alleged that the BJP's Bengal unit knew about demonetisation well before November 8 and had deposited Rs 3 crore in banks in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. more

If I know BJP, it could be possible. That's explain why NETAS of BJP are mum while every body else are in very big trouble. Reason to believe - I have a friend in Transport department at a very high post, I was driving with him. I stopped at traffic light. My friend asked me to move on - HOW DARES TO STOP HIM? Perhaps that's explain - ruling people are so power full as compared to person standing in queue in front of banks to exchange Rs. 4500 / 2000 and still dream - one day they will become rich, as money in lockers have been taken by Mr. Modi and he will give us - FREE, REPEAT FREE. more
This is total hog wash. As Mr Surender Aggarwal points out, anyone who after knowing of demonetisation bought land would be a fool. He would have been better off declaring money under IDS. Wise person is one who buys land after demonetisation. The funds deposited by the WB BJP unit was for the by elections and could be a coincidence. The success of this operation is the surprise and only a handful of carefully selected people know of it and that does not include politicians. I was an admirer of AK but these days he with a few supporters has got into the habit of making wild allegations with no proof or concrete evidence more
Amit, BJP just put a Billion people in the poor house. This is not the only fraud, there are several and then they have the audacity to act holier than thou. PM is such a coward that he is not in attendance in the Parliament, instead he is going around given speeches that are totally irrelevant. Conclusion, PM is afraid to answer questions for which he does not have answers. I had knees operation a week ago and just before that the demonitisation was announced and I had so much trouble getting a draft for what need to be paid. I had already withdrawn the money to be paid, which became useless, then I had to deposit that and get a draft. No one has a right to do that. ________________________________ From: Amit Mishra Sent: Friday, November 25, 2016 10:32 AM To: asha.chandran@hotmail.com Subject: New post "BJP bought land worth cro..." in [Make Delhi Better with Kejriwal] more
