Behaviour of lifts at Power Failure

Many lifts tend to suddenly close doors in the event of a power failure , I mean like at lightning speed and the person can get crushed, esp children.

Are there standards for how a lift should function in case of a power failure? more

DEAR MUKUL BABU.you have a valid point.If you have a back up power connectivity,such situation will not arise.However,please get to the manufacturer of the LIFT which you are talking about ,discuss the issue if w/o a POWER BACK UP,some device can be installed to avert such condition you are talking about.To our knowledge,there may not be any standard.With regards,BN DAS more

It is a horrible experience for those who were inside the lift, when power failure takes place. Why not there be a power back up or UPS (un-interupted power supply) provision by the manufacturers for sometime. more

We have been doing some recce on installation of a lift in our house which was built in 1968. We have been told that enough security is built into the new-age lifts, so that in case of sudden power failure the lift would reach the next landing stage and open the gates. However, reconfirmation is advisable in case of actual requirement. The same applies to the Stairwell Lifts. more

Did you celebrate Golden Jubilee for the lift . The maintenance should be very good. Which city is that , and how many floors . Actually as long as the Car and the Steel Ropes are in tact no need to go for new one at all .

If there is no power back up for the Lift , change of the electronic Panel in the Motor room will do .

The cost for a Lift to be installed retaining the car and the Rope costed us Rs. 2,85,000 for a Ground + 3 flats . Check with your maintenance people to install
