bank accounts safety
Of late i have been reading news items to the effect that bank accounts are being accessed by bank insiders and heavy amount is pilfered by the staff themself . Recent case is a bank in tamil nadu that all the pledged jewels have been stolen and even bank account has been depleted of its content. THE affected people are poor villagers. It looks as if the staff were part of the gang that looted the accounts.
In another case in thanjavur district a digital theft has been done in almost all the banks where small small amount has been siphoned off from large number of accounts amounting to a huge total sum. In all these cases staff are not interested in helping the customer. They have simply asked them to file a complaint.
The government should put these things in order instead of attempting big ticket reforms.
THERE was a general complaint that there is some major flaw in the software used by the banks. This software has been supplied by a leading indian software developer. Government is not taking any action in this. more

The staff observe whether a particular account is not operated or not. But so long as there is no withdrawal entry in the pass book , customer need not fear. It is the responsibility of the bank to safeguard the money invested.You see lot of adds telling about "arranging" bank loans. This is floated by certain managers to strike a commission in the loan. I cite a case of Pondicherry. Loans were sanctioned on the recommendation of councillor. Now bank manager and councillor conspire to exploit this. A bank account opened and a cheque for withdrawal presented by anonymous person. Entry made in pass book. But to keep records correct, reminders will be sent. But reminders will be returned to bank with "no addressee". Now the bank will give police complaint. On police investigation, it will be reported there was no such person. Councillor says I only recommended.Manager says the loan was given on recommendation. Ultimately, crores written of as NPA.This was a real time event.
