Adulteration Tests

Some time back we had received these tests of food adulteration. Are they in sync with tests suggested by FSSAI.

Are there more tests? more

As has been clearly declared in the heading as also elaborated in the 'NOTE' "The above tests are only of indicative / preliminary and may be used as consumer alertness. In case of suspicion about adulteration, the same needs to be got analyzed by standard food testing laboratories." Test methods described are such that they can be carried out by general public. Since many of such tests can give false positives as also false negatives - in case of suspicion competent laboratories need be approached. more
Exceptionally informative to spread awareness. more
Useful information. more
The above info is very useful. I live in Andheri Mumbai and sometimes want to get items like fruits for artificial ripening or sweets for rotten maida etc. I wonder where can one get done. While visiting FISSI site I did not find required info. Can site be updated to reflect FISSAI organization spread, testing facilities, e-mail and telephone numbers, emergency contact nos, grievance or complaint procedure. Schedule of charges can also be shown. Site can also give some typical serious cases of adulteration and steps taken. There is a general perception that the punishment for even life threatening adulteration is very light and so gives impression that authorities are not serious about public health. Is there any system of blacklisting defaulters? more
