Addressing Stray Dogs and Monkeys meneace

It is very true that a great menace caused and created by stry dogs and monkeys. In view of the Campaign against Cruelty to Animals the Corporations are finding difficult to manage the situation and help the residents. The dogs and monkeys during the last few months have become very aggressive. What to say of the children, the adults and elderly people are also scared, and approaching us to sol the problem. But how when any action against the animals may be termed as Cruelty to them; and however it does not matter to organisers of the campaign - how cruel and dangerous these animals are to the Human Beings.

I wish to share some of the steps which may be taken to stop/minimise the growing population of the stray dogs and monkeys:
The Corporations must catch up these animals- (particularly the females) and sterilise on a regular
basis.
The Corporation must have mobile squads, separate for dogs and monkeys which should keep a constant vigil,
To manage the menace of the monkeys the Corporations must have the authority to out source the services of the keepers of "lemur (Langoor)" and provide this animal to the RWAs on rotation basis. Monkeys are very scared of this animal.

The authorities concerned must review the law on "Cruelty to Animals"; to enable people to ensure that the animals do not become menace.

I wish to state with anguish that the keepers( so called elite class) of the dogs as pet, do leave them to relieve their nature calls on the streets and roads, which make them dirty and unhygienic. There must be a law to control this practice. more

Agreeing with all : Irvinder Singh, Ramesh Suri & Ashok Golas, municipal workers' work to b monitoredabout actual sterilization as MCD is under BJP, also how does 1 monitor! give Solutions while giving a problm, I feel, in whatever small way it can help @least thinking will start hw to deal with it. Secondly, as I am South Delhi's G K 1, C blkRWA Prsdnt, in our 1 blk residents arrranged kennel temporarily & feeding it turned these animals as sentinels of that lane for any intruders, this sounds good when managed, I suggest. more
All those who feed these stray animals should provide shelter in their home and do all feeding, looking after in their home only more
I agree with you Irvinder. Then what should be done? more
Sterilisation of 50 million dogs is impossible. The municipal workers and other agencies routinely show dogs as sterilised and pocket the money. It is a great business opportunity for the crooks. Ina society where corruption is endemic and where people claim money for buildings and bridges without making them how do you check if a dog is sterilised or not. Probably the money is being pocketed without doing anything. The only solution is to amend the law to allow people to hire approved agencies to drive away or kill stray dogs.
