The senior citizens can definitely be helpful in supervising and keeping the city clean, but this involves the local municipal authorities to cooperate, which they are not. Unless some authority and accountability is given to senior citizens is given involvement of senior citizens would remain only a wishful thinking. more
We as residents of Indian cities need to be co operating with our municipalities, provided the Municipalities take it upon themselves to see that our cities remain clean , roads are maintained, water supply is adequate .. so on and so forth. Sure we are paying taxes to ensure that we get all the above fecilities, but as citizens we can participate to help keep our surroundings clean, The dry waste like metal, plastic, paper etc needs to be picked on daily basis by the municipal pick up trucks. But some of us who have small or big gardens , can definitely reduce the quantity of kitchen waste -wet and dry) by converting it into compost for plants. It does not take much effort and the segregation of the garbage becomes almost a habit in no time. Those interested in making their own compost can contact go to www.daily dump.com What should concern us the most is that there is no accountability on how our tax money is being used? How many garbage conversion plants have been set up , say in Bangalore metropolis , to take care of the daily garbage being generated in the city? Each residential colony needs its own garbage conversion plant. The Municipal corporation needs to find empty land near these colonies to set up the plants. Either way we pay something for garbage collection per month. If necessary a certain amount , I am sure citizens would not mind if they have to pay a cess for their home garbage management. At least we would not see the garbage littered on the road side after it has been collected from homes... more
Should we stop destroying what we have first? Anyone in this forum looking to stand up to The Art of Living Foundation or we still believe they did not do anything wrong, it is just political. Do we have the courage to renounce Sri Sri Sri more
The method is good if we use balanced kitchen waste to form compost. No provision for excess waste and alternately we have to donate it or throw it. more
If the public has to do all these process, why them the government is collecting Swechha Bharat CESS, to increase the coffer ??? Stop collecting Cess and then advise the public to do certain things. more
