Dear all,
During the last few years as I was involved in desk Top study on Water Resources Management which was funded by Indian National Academy of Engineering. I found during the survey that there are a number of technologies available in the country which can not only solve Water and sanitation problems but can fuel economic growth . One such technology is Soil Biotechnology patented by IITB for decentralized Sewage treatment / improving water quality . I suggest that we look at some of these innovations which are already fuelling Economic growth and invest more and use them to create jobs and boost economy by investing in them and creating a clean India. more

.> Well said SUBHAS CHANDER. You mentioned " Soil Biotechnology patented by IITB for decentralized Sewage treatment / improving water quality ." Wish you explained more or sent b link! I have been practicing "ElectroCoagulation " since 1985 to Convert ANY water to safe drinking water. Energy Costs less than 10Paise/Litre. Similarly Outputs from Septic tanks can be treated with EC TO GET acceptable water quality fit to send to Ganga in 2015.Here you can retrieve valuable Saleable Fertilizers too.. My estimates are that just these 2 pactices can keep a Crore rmployrd productively. Bamboo - rightly so Kamalendu Babu. My WonderChair=3Kg= uses only Bamboo . Nothing parallel in comfort Worldwide. Can be exported to seat 6 Billion. Young social scientist Pranjal Barua has offered a plan for 1 crore homebound seniors- women mostly-- - producing Super HealthFood MUSHROOM for 125 Crore people+Export. more
Joint effort of environmentalist, scientist,Forestry and marketing for effective cultivation of bamboo species will be fruitful.Wetland technology may be taken up on trial basis. more
constructed wetland technology is also very effective for those areas where above mentioned efforts may not work. more
I would like to draw the attention of our central Government to initiate Bamboo plantation in the North east which is the main raw material for paper and cottage industry and is the main source of livelihood of poor people.Bamboo is growing abundantly in Hilly terrains.Presently there is scarcity of bamboo because of unplanned way of cutting bamboo and lack of initiative for plantation. Some initiative had been taken earlier to grow bamboo through farm forestry level but was not fully successful. There are major integrated paper mills in the north east under public sector undertaking which consume large amount of bamboo as raw materials. Bamboo plantation if initiated in a scientific manner with proper research and marketing then it will surely generate employment opportunity. This will help to protect our environment and boost national economy. more
