I have been following this forum for some time. There are many people stating that they do not see results on the ground. Some even mention that policies are anti-people. Let's have a discussion on why people think this is the case. I will list below several key points. Please share your thoughts. Admins, please take this further if it is useful.

It is very clear that there have been policies that make a difference. Many major policies at the central level are related to long term progress that have a gestation period before results are visible. A key example is formation of NITI Aayog the results of which will take time for us to see. The short term policies that directly impact day to day life of people, such as cleanliness through Swachh Bharat, are in the hands of the local administration (state government), not the central government.

Other policies include investment in highways for better supply chain and reduced food/goods inflation, Jan Dhan Yojana with creation of 200 million bank accounts for reducing leakage of funds by directly reaching the beneficiary, and reducing import bill. The three most costly imports are fuel (coal), electronics and gold. Coal auctions and Make in India are aimed at local reducing these imports. Gold monetisation scheme is also aimed at reducing gold imports. In a few years, with extra cash from reduced inflation, reduced leakages and reduced imports, the government and people will be able to really invest in improving our human development index (i.e. education, malnutrition, etc.).

These are long term strategies that will show results in a few years. Now, I would like you to share your thoughts on what policies would show immediate impact. If you feel something is anti-people, state what it is and why it is anti-people so everyone can understand your reasoning for your conclusion. If you would like to see more action on Swachh Bharat in your neighborhood, state exactly what steps you think would achieve that objective and whether those steps have been already implemented by central government. If you feel that there is high food inflation, state what short term steps would be useful to control the inflation and whether those steps are already implemented or not implemented by the central government. Point out suggestions that are already implemented if you are aware of it. It the steps are already implemented, let's identify if further steps can be taken to make more progress.

Let's aim for useful suggestions so we can make progress. If we get a good discussion, we can take some of the specific points and discuss those points in more detail. more

Sri Sanjib kumar . Bureaucrats are nothing before the Indian Executive or , Legislature , or , Police Force . The Culprits and or Directors behind and or those with authority over the bureaucrats are not to be ignored to find the real root cause of the ill in the Indian public administration . more
bureaucrats are the most selfish lots ( exceptions are a few ) in the governance system they never care any thing beyond their own benefit. for obvious reason they will try to stall / derail any policy that curtail or reduce their undue benefit. Such bureaucrats should be told to show time bound results else they be removed from their post. more
Thanks Mr. Prabhakar, A P Singh more
Why the government is going on increasing taxes under different heads and the railways are changing its established rules of refund out of budget. In the budget bill the service tax was first increased from 12% to 14%. This is in addition to several other taxes and 14% service tax is already exorbitant. Now the finance minister has has increased the service tax by another 0.5& in the name of Swachch Bharat cess. Why? Instead of increasing taxes why not the government seriously try to plug the loopholes through which major portion of funds under different heads are looted by its ministers, political leaders, the officers, employees and the contractors. The projects are tactfully delayed so that the cost escalate by 300 to 400 times which helps these corrupt people' black money to inflate further? I would also like to known the concrete action, if any, taken by the government during last 18 months to curb, if not eradicate, corruptions! It is not clear as to why the railways minister has bee given total freedom to act as he likes. He has increased the ticket cancellation charges by 100% in one stroke. It it was to be done, what made him to double the advance reservation period to `120 days, where as the actual need was to reduce it drastically to 15 days or so to reduce the black marketing of tickets. Was not it done with a bad intention of first forcing the people purchase the tickets 4 months in advance without any plan and then go for cancellation and pay high prices for that? It is not difficult to justify an action but some the acts themselves raise question marks! Looking to the reputation of our PM, it is not clear to the citizens of the country as to why he prefers to remain silent on various national burning issues as if he is just following the footsteps of his predecessor! more
Most of the politicians/ministers and bureaucrats are not happy as they have to work more, but have to remain satified with their salaries. They are unable to loot and so, they are least co-operative. If all leakages from exchequer are stopped and raids by IT,CBI,ED will get accelerated, it will lead to reduction in corruption. The real beneficiary of direct cash transfer will be poor and then things will start changing. As far as setting up big industries by multinational, large corporate houses etc., it will start yielding results after 2/3 yrs.. i have positive view about future of Indian economy. more
