It is right that all Pensioners must get their pensions grom Government. They are not getting it anyway under the remit of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (HRD Act 1995). Similarly elderly Disabled people are not getting these pensions every month through their Bank Accounts. Where all these money going from the Funds given in the Financial Budget every year. It does not trickle & reach ordinary senior citizen in the street. What a Government & its 'Well-published' but not acted or executed ACTS? Get the Act right & pay!. We are waiting........ After reading Mr. Om P Malhotra's post, I checked the Haryana government's pension policy through the following link: http://socialjusticehry.gov.in/pension11.aspx A pension of Rs. 500 if the annual income is less than Rs. 50,000 in today's time seems to be a joke on senior citizens. more
Government has accumulated lakhs of crores due to demonetization and will earn substantial amount on account of penal interest.Part of this fund can be used as corpus for welfare activities for senior citizens. more
As mentioned earlier Govt is managed by politicians and the Babus who are thoroughly corrupt and accumulate enough wealth to look after their many future generations. The poor are given compensation to cater to vote bank politics. These politicians and Babus dont have to think of senior citizens and certainly they dont think of senior citizens.Senior citizens deserve a separate ministry to look after talent management for nation building and give healthy happy life to the seniors who have contributed significantly in the nation building process including huge income tax they have contributed. Present government has started in a small way to offer certain benefits to senior citizens which is certainly not enough. It is important that government takes innovative measures(possibly without involvement of Babus)which can ensure better life for the senior citizens. more
First thing to improve is the pension system. Private sector pensions (even through LIC) do not correct for Cost of Living/Inflation. However, housing loans (for example) change their floating rates based on "cost of money" and take undue advantage of RBI & Govt constantly fiddling with rates. The system is created to create chaos (actually fleecing you), not transparency. more
