Is there anywhere in Delhi where unused/expired medicines can safely be disposed of? It is clearly not safe to put them in the rubbish. In some countries all pharmacies will take and dispose of such medicines but that does not seem to be the case here - perhaps should be encouraged.... more

Drop boxes are needed at common places like markets,Housing area facilities, clubs etc. where people can easy access to drop expired medicines as everyone can not go to AIIMS. more
Expired medicines are not harmful. After expiry their potency is reduced. There are special drop boxes in hospitals like AIIMS where expired medicines can be dropped. These are then used for the poor who cannot afford medicines. more

I think the question raised by Mr Grove has not been addressed. It was not regarding use or not use expired medicine but regarding their disposal. Can the expired or for that matter any medicine be just dumped in garbage? I think the easiest way, not necessarily the best, is to cut the strips into pieces and through them in the garbage so that they become unusable. Syrups/liquids etc could be poured into the drains(Nallas) more
There should be a law for safe disposal of expired and unused medicines and strictly implemented more
