59% Indians won't rush to get the Covid-19 vaccine

Covid vaccines are being fast tracked in India and many other countries without testing long term side effects which is essential for RNA vaccines.

Also, rules for reporting side effects have been changed so that they are not related to Vaccine.

Vaccine Companies are also being exempted from liability. Please discuss all of this and perhaps local circle can escalate our concerns to Govt. more

COVID-19 vaccines have been under discussion in many circles on LocalCircles and many of you recently participated in the survey on plans to get the vaccine once its available. At the same time, we have discussed efficacy claims from 3 vaccine makers including the one that's most relevant for India at this point (Oxford-Astrazeneca) via Serum, the questions raised overseas and the adverse event in Serum trial and the non-disclosure.Below is the link to the survey report:Covid-19 Vaccine Acceptance surveyOnce again, we will escalate the concerns to the Government, both on hesitancy and on steps needed to avoid black marketing of vaccine when it does arrive. It is critical that through transparent information sharing the Industry and Government keep people updated so when the vaccine does arrive, there is a high acceptance rate. If you have additional inputs, questions on the same, do share. Also, if you have ideas on how other vaccines like the one by Moderna (storage temperature -20 degree C) and any upcoming ones can also be made available as alternatives in India, do share the same.

It is Government responsibility to show visible actions and hence are doing all this. it is desirable to wait 6 months after initiation of administering the vaccine to check for any ill effects, since the vaccines are being developed with unusual speed to save politically also. However, in any worst events, it may be considerable. Remember, HIV is also a RNA virus and no affective vaccine could be produced till date. more
