For a few months, the CGHS authorities had started a very helpful initiative by uploading every transaction (by way of advice to the beneficiaries and prescriptions of medicines and referrals to specialists in CGHS approved Pvt hospitals) onto the e-mail IDs of the respective beneficiaries registered at the Wellness Centres (dispensaries). This served a very great purpose of maintaining the medical record of a beneficiary.
Suddenly, this has been discontinued and, despite mails to the concerned authorities, the service has not been resumed. Even otherwise also, there is neither the culture nor the system of responding to the emails of any CGHS beneficiary.
Considering the PM's repeated stress on the Digital India scheme and also his call for transparency in governance, as a retired senior civil servant, I find it rather suggestive for the CGHS to stop a beneficial initiative. In fact, the authorities had asked the beneficiaries to register their email IDs with their respective Wellness Centres too.

CGHS IN THESE DAYS, SINCE MONTHS, IS NOT ABLE TO DISPENSE MEDICINES ON THE SAME DAY. MOST OF THE MEDICINES ARE INDENTED AND ARE DISPENSED THE NEXT DAY AFTER TWELVE NOON. AS A RESULT, THE PENSIONERS HAVE TO VISIT THE WELLNESS CENTRE TWICE. IT CAUSES A LOT OF INCONVENIENCE AND TROUBLE TO THE PENSIONERS OF ALL AGES. more

No, with respect, I beg to differ. The Scheme as such is very great and, especially for pensioners like me, we would be dead by now without the CGHS back up for our old machines. And, in Delhi, at least, one must appreciate the CGHS for its service--but for the ill-behaved and impatient (incompetent too) officials and their particular animosity and heartlessness for the senior citizens beyond the age of 75/80. But, yes, in Kolkata--or, in Bengal--CGHS is dead since a long time ago, may be from its inception. Totally incompetent Addl Dir to unresponsive and ill-behaved doctors to the unionised and thoroughly corrupt staff members--iot is simply hell! One may surf through the net to see the case of Dibakar Chatterjee (a retired chief commissioner of income tax) vs Addl Dir, CGHS, Kolkata who simply refused not only to do what he is paid for but even to allow the former to enter into his room! And, a chief commissioner of income tax is way above an addl dir of cghs! The staff sitting outside the room of that addl dir in Kolkata simply did not allow that ailing man to see the addl dir on a matter of interpretation of the govt order--a job in which any IRS officer (that too of the rank of a CCIT) has to be compulsorily expert, for interpretation of law and judicial orders is his bread and butter! The said Addl Dir had of course communicated clearly his requirements through his clerks/staff sitting outside his chamber to the fiery and brilliant (late) Dibakar Chatterjee who, true to his salt, refused to oblige resulting in that officer refusing to pass the bill on the basis of his understanding (!) and interpretation of a govt order. Unfortunately, the said Dibakar Chatterjee was not in a position to attend the hearing before the CAT as he was bedridden.

In that respect, Chennai is somewhat better, but for the corruption 9in the office of the Addl Dir and the misbehaviour of the specialists in the Anna Nagar centre.

Overall, all the best intentions of a proactive and hardworking PM are deliberately and consciously, with an ulterior motive, being sabotaged by a vast number of dishonest doctors and staff. Otherwise, the scheme called CGHS as such is indeed a most beneficial initiative, only being tampered with wilfully by a lobby.
Unfortunately, the PM has no way to learn of this continuous attempt at sabotaging inter alia this scheme. more
