Good. whenever an election is on the cards. Otherwise poor.

What is there to say? 5 years back I shifted to Puzhuthivakkam near Velachery/Madipakkam. The interconnecting Taramani road was being widened/renovated. I was very happy as that project was already going on for a few years then, NOT months. It went On...went on....went on. Even now going on. To my memory it is close to OR MORE THAN 8 years now. ONE major mistake needed correction for rain water drainage works then, and it was taken up in spite of financial aspects that I do not want bring in because of the error's cost, ...... is still continuing.

The last state assembly elections raised a lot of hopes amongst most of us because we felt the govt will be under compulsion at least then for completing the works. Still we are hopeful though signs keep on appearing that the works will be completed soon...soon...soon. Hope that SOON comes soon! Whether the corporation is responsible in anyway for the project or delay is something unknown to me. Everyone knows that the face of south Chennai from Velachery has CHANGED tremendously.

Well I don't say that only this road is delayed. There are many more roads. But since this a road I have to use on a daily basis it is very important to me, like to many many millions of road users! "Hope" always lives. Not people!

Did we, the people of CHENNAI, not face the last November/December heavy rains may be that occurred after 100 years or so?

1.The road maintenance is very poor. Near to Kellys bus stop there is a big pot hole of about 1.5 meter dia and all traffic are suffering. Two wheeler suffers maximum. This is never repaired even though it is lying with out any action for more than 2 months.
2. In Mogappair near the sport ground excavation is done for two Manholes and partly constructed. It is lying with out any further construction since 1 Month.
3. In Mogappair West and Nolambur a lot of concreting is being done for drains. Unfortunately there is no curing eventhough bunds are made for curing but no water is poured.
4. For side shoulders Corporation Engineers wanted to lay wet mix macadam but laid with out ant wet mix. Over this concrete is poured the quality of which is very poor. It is getting cracked as there are no curing.
5. Road work done for Kavi Mani Salai is very poor, the consolidation done was bad. No supervisors were seen at site. Work is done early morning. The contractor has provided road roller but the driver was sleeping. I walked throigh that area at 6.00 AM and seen the above facts. Quality of work is very poor. I am commenting as I am a Civil Engineer and have done a lot of road works.
6. Drain work being done at Mogappair west is unplanned and with out any progress and unplanned. Unfortunate that Corporation Engineer does not know planning, which is quite unfortunate.

Service is very slow and they are not responding to calls. In my locality (Mugappair, Chennai) they started Storm water drain by digging trenches in the road weeks back but it is still not completed. As a result of which the width of the road has very much reduced causing accidents and hardship to the residents
