108 Covid mutations found in sewage/waste waters

A STUDY in Pune’s open waste water drains from December 2020 to March 2021 has not only been able to assess the presence of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid, but also picked up key mutations circulating in the community. The study provides evidence on how waste water sequencing identified mutations, and shows variants in circulation before being observed through clinical data.

Waste water sequencing analysis revealed mutations L452R and E484Q associated with B.1.617 lineage in samples collected during March. These mutations were absent in samples collected from December 2020 to February 2021. Attached full report.

Similar studies must be conducted in all major locations across India. This will likely lead us to what

It is established fact that covid virus has mutations, so why we grumble. Let's follow the protocols in strict sense. Government and other machinery will do the needful. Let's be constructive and not to waste valuable time and energy of others more
Sick and tired of such news. If a person is careful and just follow the simple guidelines of the Government, no virus will come any where near them more
It is Natural. Drainage Waters, Sewerage contain many Viruses that are to be still Known. It is Why Drains Sewerages are Covered and Separated usually. Cleaning Teams need sufficient Protection Precautions and Sanitation. more
Even Garbage, Medical Wastes contain Viruses. Must be Fired more
The spread of the virus is though air from the mouth/nose of an infected person. If covid protocols of proper wearing of mask, social distancing, hand washing, etc is practiced, there is no cause of worry about any other source. One should get vaccinated at the earliest. more
