VIP Culture continues to prevail: Inputs Sought to address it

Yesterday multiple members in different circles shared a video of an MP who recently was involved in delaying a flight by sitting on a protest because she didn’t get a first class seat. These and many others like this are among the hundreds of examples we come across every year in India.

Many of the members in this circle who were there in 2016-17 may remember how some of you raised the issue of eliminating red and blue beacons from vehicles which was taken up by LocalCircles (attached survey from Mar 2017). Subsequently in May, 2017, the Government announced the removal of beacons from vehicles of all lawmakers, bureaucrats and judiciary.

Below are some of your past inputs on what other actions are needed to reduce VIP culture in India. Please review them and share specific inputs on what other areas suffer from VIP culture and the needed action.

We look forward to your inputs!

Further actions needed to eliminate VIP culture:

1) Removal of the word VIP from tens of thousands entrances, doors, lounges and entry gates
2) No VIP darshans at temples across India
3) Removal or Drastic Reduction of VIP/EQ quota in Railways from current 80,000 seats per day.
4) Delay in aircraft or train departures due to VIP to have hefty penalties
5) Travel for families of VIP to be ticketed like common citizens
6) Any car with sticker VIP to be challaned by Traffic Police and spot removal of sticker
7) Only the top most 50 individuals at national level and 5 individuals at state level to get VIP security
8) All VIP passes for various events to be abolished. more

Charityn begins at home, Gandhiji & LalBahadur shastri used to Live in a Simple House , even thou the whole Nation would eagerly Wish to give them the BEST OF FACILITIES. THOU ONE CANNOT or May not ACHIEVE THOSE IDEALS at least , give due respect to those great men who sacrificed all these parafarnalia for achieving their Goal and break this VIP Culture in Service of the Nation. more
Now instead of red flashing lights ambulance sirens are used on so-called local VIP cars, go to roads of Noida-Ghaziabad, one can easily see siren blowing cars and SUVs crossing traffic crowd as people give them a passes considering it medical ambulance, but only to find some politicians /local goons using ambulance siren and BJP/Samajwadi party flags on their vehicle to prove that they are VIP on the road, and need extraordinary attention for fast transit compared to ordinary people. So places of red / blue beacons now taken by ambulance type sirens, and political party flags. Govt. should eliminate all kinds of VIP symbols on roads and public places like sirens, flags, black tinted glasses etc. more
We thought that thsi Government will tke steps to eliminate VIP culture, after it reduced the rampant use of Red Light on all & sundry cars. But this did not happen our efforts the pressurise the Govt must continue. more
In a democracy if there is any VIP, it is common man. MPs and MLAs are elected by common people. The bureaucracy is for the common person. A person should be treated as VIP only if there is a threat perception for him. more
Try to be practice and not theoritical in your thoughts, any body controlling power will have a different position, first eliminate it from your home then at national level. more
PARTY FLAGS FLYING IN THE CARS OF ANY POLITICIANS... Yes, VERY MUCH HATED BY ALL THE PEOLE.... Pseudo politicians who are not VIPs but pretend to be so and want importance in the local places, buy big cars from their ill-gotten money and and affiliate themselves to some party or other, whether they may be a ECI recognised party or even local unrecognised party. They fly the FLAGS OF THE PARTY THE GET THEMSELVES AFFILIATED and vander any place of their choice and even violating the traffic rules, and also creating public nuisances ,quarrels, and even litigation due to their bad illegal activities. Thus many citizens of this country hate seeing the cars with various parties flying in their cars and speeding all the way of their choice. Hence such culture of flying any party flages in their cars should be banned forth with. more
